Superb, large, well-formed blocky crystal of Aeschynite-(Y) from the Clora May Pegmatite, Trout Creek Pass, Chaffee County, Colorado, USA. An exceptional Aeschynite-(Y) crystal for this largely-extinct locality, one of the more significant localities worldwide for this unusual rare earth element species. Collected around 2008 or so by outstanding Colorado REE mineral field collector Rudy Bolona. Measures ~60,000 CPM on my Ludlum Model 3 counter with the 44-9 probe. Rare!!
